Glasgow School of English is a private English language school based in Glasgow city centre. We have been established over ten years. We were the first English language school in Scotland to be both British Council accredited and ISO 9001 certified.
Students enjoy studying in a relaxed, friendly and welcoming atmosphere. So whether you want to develop your career prospects, study at university or just improve your English we can help.
Our most popular course is our General English 22.5 course. In addition we offer: General English 15 course, IELTS preparation, TOEIC preparation and tests, one-to-one Business English/tailored courses, English plus place based learning, English plus golf and Young Learner courses.
We can also help you find suitable accommodation including staying with a local host family or in student halls of residence.
All students who register at our school receive a FREE placement test. This test will determine your level of English and you will be placed in a class suitable for your level. With an average class size of less than ten students in 2007 we ensure students receive personal attention.

Location
We are located in the city centre of Glasgow and are a short walk from train, bus and underground stations. Our school is easy to get to; many students walk to and from school. There are also excellent transport links. The school is a five minute walk from two train stations, three underground stations and many buses pass by our front door.
General English Course
Our most popular course is our General English 22.5 course. This course is suitable for students aged 16 and over. We offer 6 levels from beginner to advance. It consists of 22.5 hours of teaching per week (excluding breaks). On Monday – Friday students study in the morning from 09:00-12:15 (inclusive of a 15 minute break). On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays students study in the afternoons from 13:15-16:00 (inclusive of a 15 minute break). The afternoons consist of workshops to improve speaking, grammar, reading and writing.
We accept new students on this course most Mondays throughout the year from as little as one week. There is no maximum period of study.
As a student at Glasgow School of English you will receive:
- A FREE placement test (to ensure that you are assigned to the most appropriate class)
- A Glasgow School of English planner
- A student identification card, providing you with discounts on travel and entertainment
- Use of all school facilities including: PC room, free wi-fi access, borrowing facility of books/DVDs/CDs
- Social activities
- End of course certificate.
